Colosseum Tickets: Official Site, Price and Time Slots

The ticket is easy. The rules around it are not.

Buying a Colosseum ticket takes five minutes on the official site. What catches first-time visitors out is everything attached to it: a fixed entry time, a name that cannot be freely changed, and winter hours that quietly shorten your day.

Quick Answer

Buy official Colosseum tickets at ticketing.colosseo.it. The standard ticket costs €18 and includes the Roman Forum and Palatine. A time slot is compulsory, sales open 30 days before your visit, and tickets are issued in your name: bring ID to the entrance.

What Is the Official Colosseum Tickets Website?

The official online ticketing channel is ticketing.colosseo.it. Check prices, products and availability there before you look at any reseller.

A website selling a valid ticket is not automatically the official Colosseum website.

How Much Do Colosseum Tickets Cost?

The standard Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine ticket costs €18. It is valid for 24 hours, with timed entry to the Colosseum and one entry to the Roman Forum and Palatine area.

Arena, Underground and Attic tickets cost more and come with different validity and access. The most complete ticket is not automatically the right one for your itinerary.

Compare what the ticket includes, not only its name or price.

Three Rules That Catch Visitors Out

  1. The name is locked early. For visits from 9 May 2026, a ticket name can be changed only once, and only until midnight seven days before the visit.
  2. ID is checked at the entrance. Tickets are issued in the holder's name. Keep the matching document ready, for every person in your group.
  3. Winter shortens the day. From 25 October 2026 to 28 February 2027, last admission is 3:30 pm and the Colosseum closes at 4:30 pm.

Decision Rule
Book the time slot that protects your day, not the one that is left when everything else is already fixed.

What If Colosseum Tickets Are Sold Out?

"Sold out" on the official site does not always mean there is no way in. But this is exactly where visitors overpay, under pressure, for the wrong product.

The legitimate alternatives, and which ones are actually worth it, are inside The Senate Vault™.

Protect the Rest of Your Rome Day

A valid timed ticket can still weaken the day when the previous visit, the transfer or your arrival margin depends on everything running perfectly. With a 3:30 pm last entry in winter, an afternoon Colosseum after a morning elsewhere leaves almost no room for delay.

Planning both major sites together? Check whether the Vatican and Colosseum in one day is a realistic sequence, or only a possible one.

Possible does not mean sensible.
